Search for Savage, Minn. man won't stop for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was especially somber for those out searching for a Savage man who has been missing for 20 days.

Almost every day, family, friends and complete strangers have been searching for Martise Windom, a beloved father and  youth basketball coach. With a backdrop of snow, the bright orange and yellow of volunteers battled their way through the day, spending their Thanksgiving looking for the father missing from the table. A meal for the searchers was donated by local grocery stores.

Windom walked from his Savage home, and never came back 20 days ago.

The non-profit search group United Legacy has helped organize these searchers and they’ll be meeting Saturday morning at the Savage Sports Center and are also organizing a search that day for Tyler Berg, who went missing in Monticello last Sunday.

The Wright County sheriff's office provided the following information about the search in a news release:

"We are asking for volunteers to be part of a foot search this Friday (November 27th) in and around the Monticello area.

The Monticello Community Center will be designated as the Volunteer Support Center. All Volunteers will need to register at this location starting at 9:30 am on Friday morning. Once you are registered as a volunteer searcher, you will be transported by bus to various search locations around Monticello."
