‘One of the good guys': Family mourns man shot, killed while breaking up fight
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) - It was a deadly weekend in St. Paul's Frogtown neighborhood, with two separate shootings less than 10 blocks away from each other claiming the life of two men.
The first shooting--near the corner of Dale Street North and Lafond Avenue early Saturday morning--claimed the life of 38-year-old Dawahn Robinson Littles, who relatives describe as a family man who cared deeply about his community.
"He was one of the good guys," his cousin Jarria Robinson said Sunday, just over 24 hours after his death. "He didn't deserve this."
Family members say Dawahn was killed while attempting to break up a fight between two women just after 3 a.m. near his home on Dale Street when he was shot in the chest by one of the women. Paramedics took him to Regions hospital soon after, where he later died.
Dawahn was the owner of Urban Treasures, a neighborhood hair shop he and his wife Janea Scott ran together.
He leaves behind four children, as well as a heartbroken family that also lost his step sister last month to cancer. Her name was LaNesha Eden.
"He did everything he could for the babies," Jarria Robinson said. "He was a wonderful dad. Just wonderful."
When it rains it pours, as they say, and the Robinson's weekend got even worse Sunday afternoon when Dawahn's stepmother, Sheryl Robinson, was robbed at a nearby grocery store, another loss in a devastating weekend for the family.
In the meantime, both weekend shootings remain under active investigation by the St. Paul Police Department.
