A Minneapolis man is helping out in Florida after a devastating hurricane and slow rebuilding process.

Doug Meyer drove his food truck "Finer Meats & Eats" to Florida in the days after Hurricane Irma.

“Everything down here with a surge of 9 feet, it was wiped out,” Meyer told Fox 9 over the phone.

Meyer works at his family butcher shop Finer Meats on Nicollet Avenue and 38th Street in south Minneapolis, but for the last month has been using his own money and donations to feed Floridians in need.

He's been serving hot meals from his food truck to nearly 350 people every day in the city of Everglades, which was hit hard by the hurricane.

“We are not going to quit, we are going to make sure these people are taken care of it,” Meyer said.

Meyer has created a GoFundMe to raise money to keep the effort going.
