Minnesota native injured in Las Vegas shooting
ROSEVILLE, Minn. (KMSP) - At least one Minnesotan was injured in the mass shooting at an outdoor concert in Las Vegas that left at least 59 people dead and 527 people injured.
Phil Aurich, a 1999 graduate of Concordia Academy in Roseville and son of longtime Concordia teacher Mike Aurich, was injured in the shooting. Phil was out of surgery Monday morning is in critical condition, according to school officials.
A post on his personal Facebook page shows he was at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, enjoying the concert. He currently lives in Nevada and has two children.
The small, Christian school community is using faith to rally around the family.
“Even in the midst of this world of pain and suffering, and I know that Mike and [Phil’s mother] Mindy and their whole family and all that love them. We're leaning on that hope, we're trusting in that hope, and we're turning to that hope,” Concordia Academy Principal Pastor Timothy Berner said.
