Minnesota man arrested for murder at Indiana motel
Police in Indiana say they've arrested a Minnesota man suspected of killing his girlfriend at a motel. Gregory Deshawn Rainer, 33, was arrested in St. Paul, Minn. early Sunday morning.
Hammond, Indiana Police Lt. Richard Hoyda said Rainer's mother called police Saturday night after he called her from the motel in Hammond and asked her to buy him a bus ticket to Minnesota.
Police said Rainer and 38-year-old Shannon Morrison were in northwest Indiana for a graduation party. The Lake County coroner's office ruled Morrison's death a homicide after she was found at the motel around 12:10 a.m. Sunday.
Rainer is being held at the Ramsey County jail on charges of murder and being a fugitive from justice.
