Minneapolis police recover a stolen handgun during an attempted burglary

The recovered gun was found to be stolen.

Minneapolis police responded to an attempted burglary on the 2600 block of Longfellow Avenue South Saturday morning.

When officers arrived at the address, they located two male suspects in a car near the caller’s address, the Minneapolis Police Department said.

While officers were speaking with the suspects, one of them fled on foot.

Officers arrested the 18-year-old suspect and found a handgun where they tackled and arrested him. The gun was stolen out of Minneapolis, the MPD said.

The suspect was booked into Hennepin County Jail on felony weapons charges.

The second suspect has not been charged but remains under investigation.
