Metro Transit: Plan ahead for busy Monday across the Twin Cities

Metro Transit is warning residents to expect a crowded day Monday in the Twin Cities.

With the National Championship and all the events surrounding it, closures will still be in place along Nicollet Mall and Chicago Avenue.

On top of the events, Metro Transit also noted that students returning to school after spring break will lead to even more transit riders.

They still expect things to run smoothly, but for those planning to head into the city, make sure you’re prepared.

“What we’re suggesting people do, plan your trip,” said Howie Padilla, of Metro Transit. “Go to Metrotransit.org, use our trip planner. You know, avoid the lines at the ticket stations. Everybody’s got this, download the Metro Transit App, do that. You can buy your tickets right there, not wait in line at the ticket station and just get on.”

For those looking to avoid the biggest travel crowds, Padilla says peak transit hours are usually from 6 to 9:30 a.m. and 3 to 7 p.m.
