Maple Grove jogger attack: Police search for man after woman tackled

The Maple Grove Police Department is investigating a reported sexual assault attempt after a woman was attacked while jogging.

Timeline:

Police say the attack happened on Thursday, Jan. 30, just after 6 a.m. near the Medicine Lake Trail's underpass beneath Interstate-94 next to Rice Lake. 

The suspect, described as a man around 30 years old, reportedly grabbed the woman from behind and tackled her to the ground.

The jogger then resisted and escaped with minor injuries before calling 911. 

She was then treated at a local hospital and released.

What you can do:

Police say they are looking for a suspect who is described as a man about 30 years old, between 5' 7'' and 5' 10''. He was also wearing a black hat, a black or gray coat, a hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black gloves that appeared to be shiny. 

Residents in the area should check their home security and doorbell cameras for any suspicious people in the neighborhood between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m.

Anyone using the trail is asked to call 911 if they see any suspicious activity, or call 763- 494-6245 if they have information on the attack.
