Extension granted in case of 2-year-old death in S. Minneapolis

According to Minneapolis Police, officers responded to a report of a 2-year-old not breathing on the 3800 block of 30th Avenue South around 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday.The child was then taken by ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center and died later that night.

Police said a juvenile suspect was taken into custody, and no others are being sought in this case. 

The Medical Examiner has yet to release the identities and cause of the death.

UPDATE: On Friday, the Hennepin County Attorney's Office received an extension on any possible charges of the juvenile taken into custody, a 17-year-old. They now have until Monday at 1:30pm to file any changes. The 17-year-old will remain at the Juvenile Detention Center while the investigation continues.
