Dalai Lama speaks to crowd in Minneapolis after Mayo Clinic visit

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama visited the Twin Cities Sunday for a public talk and a short teaching. The 80-year-old Tibetan spiritual leader has been in Minnesota for several weeks receiving medical care at the Mayor Clinic in Rochester.

Nearly 2,000 tickets were sold for the event, held at the Minneapolis Convention Center from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

This is his first public appearance in Minnesota since he put out a video message to his friends and supporters about the Tibetan New Year earlier this month. He recorded the speech while at the Mayo Clinic being treated for a prostate condition.
