Child in critical condition, 2 others injured in shooting in St. Paul's North End

St. Paul police are investigating a shooting that injured three people, including a two-year-old girl, in the North End neighborhood early Monday morning.

The shots rang out shortly after midnight into a backyard where friends and family were gathered for a Father's Day party. Neighbors said Shawn Vang, 23, and his two-year-old daughter were hit, along with 27-year-old Lee Lor.

A neighbor told Fox 9 the two-year-old was shot in the head while her father and Lor sat on the porch. Vang brought his daughter to a neighbor’s house and called police, not even noticing a bullet had grazed his back until much later.

"It's something nobody would want to see," Dennis Hudson, the neighbor, said. "That little child just laying there with no life in her body, she was just like a limb."

The three victims were taken to Regions Hospital, where the two-year-old remains in critical condition.

Throughout the day, St. Paul Police processed the scene, marking bullet trajectories and impact points. They won't say how many shots were fired, just that there were a lot.

Authorities also say the shooting was not random and not all witnesses are cooperating. The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call the St. Paul Police Homicide Unit at 651-266-5650.

A GoFundMe page for the victim has been set up and it can be found here.
