Charity store in St. Paul condemned after vehicle crash

A St. Paul charity store suffered significant damage after a vehicle crashed into the building early Thursday morning, according to St. Paul police.

Sgt. Mike Ernster says around 2 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of West 7th Street and Bay Street on a report that vehicle struck a building. When police arrived the driver had already fled the scene. Witnesses told police the driver was last seen heading westbound on Randolph Avenue.

The store, Joseph's Coat, is now boarded up with a sign signed by city officials saying the building is condemned. Joseph's Coat a free store that offers items to people in need.
