CBP officers seize counterfeit FIFA World Cup jerseys at Port of Rochester

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) says officers working at the Rochester, New York port of entry seized 80 counterfeit soccer jerseys, including 40 FIFA jerseys.

CPB says the jerseys were discovered during a shipment inspection and officers determined they were not authentic and seized them for having counterfeit trademarks.

According to CPB, the counterfeit items would have had a combined price tag of $12,200.

"During high-profile events like the World Cup, we often see an increase in imported counterfeit items as criminals attempt to exploit potential consumers looking for popular brands. Our officers and import specialists work hard to identify and intercept these items to protect the consumer and businesses," said Rochester Port Director John Benson.

CBP says consumers should shop from reputable online sources. If you have information about counterfeit merchandise being illegally imported into the United States, CBP encourages the public to anonymously report any suspected violations of trade laws or regulations using E-Allegation.
