A cargo ship ran aground in the Duluth Harbor Sunday afternoon and came to a halt just 30 feet from the breakwall, according to city fire department officials.

American Spirit, a nearly 1000-foot ship scheduled to carry iron ore pellets at the time of the incident, remains in place while authorities figure out how best to move the massive boat.

No injuries were reported and the ship is not leaking or taking on water.

This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
