Bodies of 2 missing anglers found on Upper Red Lake in northern Minnesota

Update (4:10 p.m.) - Shortly after 3 p.m. on Nov. 27, two bodies were recovered from Upper Red Lake - one male and one female. The missing ATV was also recovered. The names of the deceased are being withheld pending formal notification of family. The bodies have been transported to the Sanford Medical Center Morgue for positive identification by the Beltrami County Coroner.

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by local resorts, DNR, State Patrol, Kelliher-Waskish Fire-Rescue, Blackduck Ambulance, Bemidji Fire Department, Blackduck Police Department and the Lakes Area Dive Team.

Additional information will be released on Tuesday.

Around 2 p.m. Monday, authorities located a submerged ATV in Upper Red Lake after finding a hole in the ice. Additional items located near the open water has lead rescuers to believe the two missing anglers are both in the water, according to the Beltrami County sheriff's office

A 29-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were reported missing to the Beltrami County sheriff’s office after they did not return from fishing on Upper Red Lake.
