BIG early season snows expected to our west
KMSP - While the metro and much of Minnesota gets a few days of rain, its snow that’s flying across parts of the Rockies. While it is October and snow season for the Rockies typically starts in the middle to the end of September, it is still a little jarring to see just how much is expected. The higher elevations of Colorado were getting enough early Monday to close I-70 through ski country. This is common in the winter months, but quite unusual in early October. Some of the mountain peaks of Colorado, Wyoming and Montana could top 2 feet of snow through Tuesday evening. That is an enormous amount of snow for the time of year. Even the lower elevations across central Montana could end up with a foot of snow. That is UNUSUAL this early in the season.
