Barron, WI musician announces plans for first concert after 'The Voice'

BARRON, Wisc. (FOX 9) - A Wisconsin musician turned hometown hero is back home after an exciting week on "The Voice."

Chris Kroeze of Barron, Wisconsin was named runner up in the singing competition. On Friday, he announced plans for his first concert since his run on the show.

Kroeze has also used his platform to raise awareness about missing 13-year-old Jayme Closs. She went missing this October, the day her parents were found murdered in their home in Barron. 

On Friday, the Barron County Sheriff posted another reminder for the public to keep sending in tips.

Last month, Kroeze dedicated his performance of “Let it be” to the missing teen.

“It was dedication week and Barron was going through a tough time, and I had a platform that I could get that out on. So it just felt like the right thing to do,” Kroeze said.

Kroeze says he doesn’t plan on moving away from Barron. He is happy there with his wife, two kids and their dog.

His concert is scheduled for February 22nd at The Barron Area Community Center. The venue is close to Kroeze’s heart.

“I grew up in Barron and I've lived here pretty much my whole life. And this is the first stage that I ever performed on, so it just felt right to do my first show after The Voice on that same stage,” Kroeze said.

Tickets go on sale Saturday at noon.
