Police officers from around the metro stepped up to the plate Saturday afternoon as they participated in “Badges for Baseball.”

Officers from various departments and more than 200 kids from a program designed to promote interest in baseball among inner city youth participated. Together they played baseball, dodgeball and other sports with the officers.

The goal of the program is to build a closer relationship between police officers and the communities they serve.
