4 days of wet weather and more on the way

What a week! We are certainly locked into a busy weather pattern with heat and humidity that lead to severe weather with tornadoes and plenty of large hail.  Then it was the rain, the clouds, and the chilly temperatures… and unfortunately more is coming for the weekend.  Check out the rainfall totals over the 4 day period ending about when our rains did early Thursday morning.  Many areas around the metro received 2-4” of rain, with some isolated backyard rain gauges reading 5 or more.  It was even heavier just to the southeast of the metro with widespread amounts of 4-6” from Red Wing down to La Crosse with locally over 8” in spots.

The rains on the way for the weekend though won’t be nearly as heavy as the atmosphere is set up for more of a steady rain with embedded storms, as opposed to the torrential downpours we had in spots through the week.  Here is a peek at how much rain is possible from Friday through early Sunday.  Temperatures will be quite cool as well… it WILL get better next week as highs head back closer to normal with at least a couple of dry days.
