Snow totals: Twin Cities sees 8 inches Wednesday in first round of April storm

The first round of a wet, April storm dropped over 8 inches of snow on areas of Minnesota Wednesday.

As of 7 a.m., the National Weather Service recorded 8 inches at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and 9.5 inches in Chanhassen.

  • Maple Plain: 7.5" 
  • Spring Lake Park: 4.5" 
  • Rosemount: 7.5" 
  • Hastings: 5.2"
  • St. Cloud: 5"
  • Eau Claire: 10.5"

Wednesday night, the Minnesota State Patrol said 244 crashes occurred on Minnesota roads, including 34 with injury. Additionally, 212 vehicles spun out or off the road and 18 semis jackknifed Wednesday as well. 

According to Flight Aware, 320 flights were delayed and 47 were canceled at MSP Airport as a result of the storm, too
