Snow Thursday evening and a second round Friday morning are making for a slippery morning commute in the Twin Cities metro. Parts of the metro and central Minnesota saw nearly an inch of snow overnight, but a "snow squall" that moved southeast along the Interstate 94 corridor dropped 2 to 3 inches of snow in a narrow band from Albany to Otsego to Woodbury.

The snow made for some slick roads as people made their way home Thursday evening. From 5-9 p.m. there were 123 crashes, 12 with injuries, and 50 vehicle spin outs or off-roads in the metro. Statewide, there were 172 crashes, 26 with injuries, and 75 vehicle spin outs, including a pickup truck that came to rest at a 45-degree angle on the guy wires of a power pole in Roseville, Minnesota.

A second burst of snow rolled through the metro Friday morning. The Minnesota Department of Transportation has reported numerous crashes on Twin Cities roads. Drivers are advised to plan ahead and slow down.
