MSP Airport runways closed by snowstorm, hundreds of flights canceled

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - Two runways have reopened at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, though two more remain closed amid heavy snow and strong winds that are causing visibility problems.

The airport itself remains open, but more than 550 flights have been canceled with more in store, according to MSP Airport spokesperson Pat Hogan. Passengers are advised to check with their airline to verify the status of their flight.

Fox 9's Christina Palladino reports the line of passengers is growing and they're getting more frustrated as they try to find their bags and get on a flight. One woman flying on Delta has been stuck at MSP since Sunday night.

The Twin Cities metro remains under a Winter Storm Warning until midnight on Monday. As of noon, 0.7 inches were recorded at MSP Airport, according to the National Weather Service, although the bulk of accumulations are expected to occur between noon and 5 p.m.
