MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Wednesday will start off cool and bright before clouds roll in, bringing a chance of snow later in the day.

What to expect:
The day starts cooler and bright but turns cloudier by the afternoon. Southeast breezes at 10-15 mph will help warm temperatures into the low 20s across central and southern Minnesota, while northern areas will see highs in the teens. The Twin Cities metro daytime high is 23 degrees.
Later in the day there’s a chance for snow and a light wintry mix. Southern Minnesota could see freezing mist by midday before transitioning into a light wintry mix and pushing northeast toward the Twin Cities. By the late afternoon and evening, widespread snow will develop across northern regions. The precipitation could create slippery road conditions for the evening commute.
Northeastern Minnesota will get the bulk of the accumulation with 2–5 inches possible in some areas. The metro could get around an inch of snow, while southern Minnesota may get a light icy glaze.
Scattered snowflakes will linger overnight as temperatures top out in the mid-20s, before falling several degrees by Thursday morning.

What's next:
Snow will taper off by Thursday morning, but a cold front will drop temperatures into the teens. It will be a bright but windy day, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph.
Friday begins on a calm note with passing clouds and highs in the lower 20s. However, snow chances return Friday night into Saturday, with the potential for widespread accumulation.
Temperatures will drop into the teens on Sunday before turning even colder next week.
