Disaster looms as parts of the south could get 20" of rain

A new tropical system that’s likely to strengthen into the weekend could spell disaster for New Orleans and parts of the south. But it’s not likely to be from any sort of wind, but from very heavy rain and storm surge as this system will be slow to move on shore.

Rain totals: Redwood Falls gets 5.43 inches, 1-4 inches for rest of area

Storms that pushed through the Twin Cities on Sunday and into Monday brought heavy rain to parts of southwestern Minnesota as well as the south and west Twin Cities metro, with most areas getting 1-4 inches. 

More scattered showers, storms arrive Monday, bringing flash flooding concerns

More scattered showers and storms are likely Monday with some flash flooding concerns in the morning. A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until noon for much of the southern part of the state and west central Wisconsin, from the south metro to the Interstate 90 corridor.

Storms bring heavy rain and wind to Twin Cities, more storms expected overnight

Storms that pushed through the Twin Cities on Sunday and into Monday left residents flooded out and some without power. Afternoon storms in the southern part of Minnesota had residents seeking shelter as the National Weather Service issued tornado warnings.

Tornado warnings issued for Freeborn and Waseca counties

UPDATE: A tornado warning has been issued for areas including Albert Lea and Twin Lakes. That warning expires at 3:45 p.m.
