Much of Minnesota saw its first snowfall of the season this weekend, with areas like Baxter seeing 4 inches of snow, and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport seeing about 1.2 inches.

As we get ready for winter, mechanics want to remind us that we need to be paying more attention to our cars, to avoid getting stuck on the side of the road.

Several crashes occurred throughout Minnesota as the first snowflakes fell across the Twin Cities metro on Saturday, but none were fatal.

Drivers are reminded to be careful on the roads this weekend as snow makes its way through parts of Minnesota.

Authorities are investigating a multi-vehicle crash Saturday morning on Highway 77 in Eagan, Minnesota.

While the Twin Cities only saw some flakes, areas to the north and west of the metro were breaking out the snow shovels and plows on Friday. In northern Minnesota, some areas reported several inches of snow, including Chisholm with 6.8 inches. In International Falls, residents saw a reported 4.5 inches while Orr, Minnesota measured two inches of snow.

With the first snowstorm of the season hitting parts of the state, the Minnesota Department of Transportation says its crews are ready for the winter weather.

There will be some light snow accumulations in West Central Minnesota in the neighborhood of 2 to 3 inches. But for those of you wanting snow in the Twin Cities, this forecast will not supply your winter wonderland.

Staying warm and cozy throughout the cold Minnesota winter is going to cost a lot more this year. 

The Twin Cities metro could see over a half inch of rain before temperatures drop. Colder air will transition rain to a wintry mix Thursday afternoon. No big snow, but certainly a big change. Check out the timeline and map.
