The Great Minnsect Show returns to the University of Minnesota

Insect enthusiasts have a reason to celebrate. The Great Minnsect Show will take place on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is free and open to the public. The Department of Entomology will host the event in the St. Paul Student Center North Star Ballroom on campus. Attendees can expect to have meet and greets with live insects, dabble in six-legged snacks and creepy crawly games like maggot races.

U of M researches study fish DNA to help humans

Researchers at the University of Minnesota are studying gars. Gars are fish that are 100 million years old and their DNA could provide insight on evolution and human health. FOX 9's Leah Beno has the story.

Movie made by MN filmmakers wraps in metro

For more than a week, a film crew has been shooting a movie called Good Sport,  which is an R-rated spoof of classic crowd-pleasers like Hoosiers and The Mighty Ducks, at the school. Orth co-wrote the script with director Andrew Zuckerman, who along with producer John Cronin, are all friends from their days at Two Rivers High School in Mendota Heights.

Lookback at the Morrill Hall takeover

The Northrop Mall is a historic landmark on the Twin Cities campus of the University of Minnesota. Among the buildings that shape the landscape is Morrill Hall, a building that is home to the university’s administrative offices but also the site of a significant moment in Black history.

Changes in Minnesota education

There are several leadership changes announced for educational institutions this week, including for St. Paul's superintendent, the president of the University of Minnesota, and the dean of Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Additionally, teachers in St. Paul filed their intent to strike with a date set for March 11.
