Wild first NHL team to sweep Blackhawks since 1939
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) - The Minnesota Wild completed a season sweep of the Chicago Blackhawks with a 4-1 win at Xcel Energy Center Tuesday night. The Wild have now won a season-high 6 straight games as they charge toward the playoffs.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Minnesota is the first NHL team to win every game in a season against the Blackhawks since the Boston Bruins completed the sweep in 1938-39.
The Wild jumped on Chicago quickly, with a Jarret Stoll goal just 2 ½ minutes into the game. Goals from Jared Spurgeon and Erik Haula sealed the Wild win, and a late empty netter extended the final score to 4-1.
