MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - The Minnesota Twins entered Tuesday night’s game against the Texas Rangers with an American League worst record of 6-17 since the All-Star Break. Coming off a 1-6 road trip, a players-only meeting was held before the game in an attempt to salvage the team’s postseason hopes.
Trailing 2-0 in the 8th inning, it looked the Twins downward spiral was going to continue, with back-to-back doubles from Joe Mauer and Miguel Sano tied the game. In the bottom of the 9th inning, a 2-out double down the right field line off the bat of Eduardo Escobar scored Kurt Suzuki for the walk-off win.
This was the 6th walk-off win for the Twins this season. The victory added to a historic night for Major League Baseball, with all 15 home teams winning.
