Teddy Bridgewater gets emotional on sideline for 1st game back
(KMSP) - Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was overcome with emotion on the sidelines Sunday during his first game back with the Minnesota Vikings since his devastating knee injury last year.
The Vikings took Bridgewater off injured reserve and reactivated him to the 53-man roster last week, nearly 15 months since he tore his ACL and dislocated his knee.
With 14 months of rehabilitation behind him, Bridgewater got emotional on the sidelines before kickoff, hiding his face in a towel as he finally realized his dream of making it all the way back onto the field with his team.
Bridgewater didn't play on Sunday. Instead, Case Keenum led the team to a 38-30 win over the Washington Redskins.
"With Case, he’s a guy who puts in so much time in our facility. he has so much positive energy coming from him and it’s contagious," Bridgewater said after the game.
In a post-game press conference, head coach Mike Zimmer said he has a plan for his quarterbacks, but did not reveal what it would be.
