Report: Vikings likely to decline Teddy Bridgewater's 5th-year option

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (KMSP) - The Minnesota Vikings are likely to decline quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s fifth-year option for 2018 due to a career-threatening injury he suffered in 2016, according to a report from ESPN.
Bridgewater, 22, was out for all of the 2016 season after tearing his ACL and dislocating his knee during practice August last year. ESPN is reporting that Bridgewater is due at least $11 million for that season, but the team appears unlikely to pick up the option at that amount because of his injury.
Even with a declined option, the Vikings and Bridgewater could still agree to terms that would keep the quarterback in Minnesota at a lower figure.
Following Bridgewater’s injury, the Vikings traded for former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford. Bradford completed 71.6 percent of his passes last season, setting an NFL single-season record.
