Gersson Rosas hired as Timberwolves president of basketball operations
MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Friday Gersson Rosas will be leading the team's front office as the president of basketball operations. Rosas replaces Tom Thibodeau, who was fired midseason.
As president, Rosas wil lbe "responsible for all decision made within the Timberwolves basketball operations department."
Rosas, 40, joins the Timberwolves after spending 17 years with the Houston Rockets, where he was most recently their executive vice president of basketball operations.
Rosas is from Bogota, Columbia, South America. He became the first Latino NBA general manager when he became the general manager for the Dallas Mavericks in 2013. He is now the first Latino to lead an NBA front office.
