Bradford out against Lions, Keenum to get 3rd straight start
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (KMSP) - Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford will not play in Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions, head coach Mike Zimmer confirmed Thursday.
This will be the third game Bradford has missed since injuring his left knee in a non-contact play in the team's season-opening win over the New Orleans Saints -- a game in which he had a career-best 143.0 passer rating.
Backup quarterback Case Keenum will get his third straight start, and Vikings fans are hoping he can continue to play like he did last week when he led the team to a 34-7 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Keenum played the best game of his NFL career against Tampa last Sunday, earning a rare game ball from Zimmer. He completed 25 for 33 passes for 369 yards, three touchdowns and no turnovers.
The Vikings play the Lions at U.S. Bank Stadium at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
