Adrian Peterson is ready for some football

After sitting out preseason, as usual, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is ready for the team’s Monday night opener against the San Francisco 49ers.

“I’m pretty excited,” Peterson told Fox 9’s Dawn Mitchell. “It’s a Monday night game. My first game back. Just to get out there and compete with the guys, it’s going to be a good time.”

Peterson's hasn't played since Sep. 14, 2014 after being placed on the commissioner’s exempt list and serving a suspension for his assault charge stemming from a child abuse case in Texas.

The Vikings and 49ers kickoff at 9:20 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14 in San Francisco.
