Young girl injured in hit-and-run in Scandia, Minn.

A young girl was struck by a car while walking on the side of 192nd Street in Scandia, Minnesota Saturday night.

When police arrived they found the girl conscious and alert in the ditch with multiple injuries. The girl was airlifted from the scene and her condition has not been released.

The incident was originally reported as a hit-and-run, but it was later revealed the driver returned to the scene. He was questioned by Washington County sheriff’s deputies and released. No charges are pending.

A witness told police he had seen three people walking side by side in the roadway before the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
