Wrong-way driver kills Iowa woman in Rice Co. crash
WEBSTER TOWNSHIP, Minn. (KMSP) - A 29-year-old Iowa woman was killed in a crash involving a wrong-way driver on Highway 19 in Rice County early Sunday morning.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Kacy Merseal was driving westbound on Highway 19 around shortly after midnight when her Volkswagen EOS was struck head-on by a Lincoln Navigator traveling eastbound in the westbound lane.
Merseal was killed in the crash. A 30-year-old woman who was also in the car suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The wrong-way driver, identified as Brandon Dellwo, 29, of Shakopee, had alcohol in his system at the time of the crash. He was arrested and booked into the Rice County Jail for criminal vehicular homicide and injury.
