Woman killed, firefighter injured in early morning St. Paul house fire

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) - An elderly woman was killed in a fire at a house in St. Paul, Minnesota early Thursday morning.
A neighbor was alerted to the fire by his barking dog and called 911, according to the St. Paul Fire Department. Crews responded to the house on the 1800 block of Lacrosse Avenue at approximately 1:45 a.m. and found smoke coming out of windows on two sides of the house.
Upon searching the home, firefighters located a victim who was unconscious and not breathing. They started CPR and the woman was transported to Regions Hospital in cardiac arrest.
After 30 minutes of continued CPR at the hospital, the woman was pronounced dead. Her dause of death is under investigation.
One firefighter was transported to Regions Hospital with minor burns. He was evaluated and has been released.
The origin and cause of the fire also remain under investigation.
