VIDEO: Unruly passenger reaches for Fond du Lac cop's gun

CLOQUET, Minn. (AP) -- Police say the arrest of an unruly driver and passenger on the Fond du Lac Indian Reservation could have ended much differently.

Authorities said Tuesday the male passenger in the car tried to grab the handgun of an officer assisting in the arrest of the driver. Dash cam video posted on the police department's Facebook page shows the man attempting to disarm the officer, but the revolver stays holstered. Three officers were attempting to arrest the driver who was resisting during the stop near Cloquet last Friday.

Reservation police tell the Star Tribune lethal force could have been used once the man got his hand on the officer's gun. Police say the car was stopped because the driver was operating the vehicle in the dark without headlights.

One of the arresting officers injured his knee when he was pushed to the pavement and will be off duty for a couple weeks.
