One man is dead and four Ramsey County sheriff’s deputies are on paid administrative leave following a shooting Sunday night.

The four deputies were on routine patrol near Highway 61 and Interstate 694 in Vadnais Heights around 9:30 p.m. when they located a suspicious RV and car parked on the street on the 3200 block of Fanum Road.

The deputies found a man inside the RV and a woman inside the car. At one point, one of the deputies fired their weapon inside the RV, striking the man. The man was taken to Regions Hospital, where he later died.

The woman in the car was interviewed and released.

The four deputies have been placed on standard administrative leave. The deputies were not wearing body cameras at the time of the incident, but the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is reviewing dash cam video.

Once the investigation is complete, the BCA will turn their findings over to the Ramsey County Attorney's Office.

Vadnais Heights does not have a police force. Ramsey County has been patrolling the city for 50 years.
