Target stores won't be open all night on Thanksgiving

Target will not keep its stores open all night this Thanksgiving, the Minneapolis-based retailer announced Monday.

Target stores will be open from 6 p.m. to midnight on Thanksgiving and will reopen at 6 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, according to a press release

The company says their hours this year will give team members a chance to recharge and prepare their stores for “even more holiday savings” on Black Friday. Target employees will also receive overtime pay for working Thanksgiving and Black Friday, as well as additional compensation for those who work certain shifts on those days.

Target is not the only retailer bucking what appeared to be the new all-night shopping trend on the holiday. The Mall of America and Burnsville Center will once again be closed completely on Thanksgiving Day and outdoor retailer REI will be closed on Black Friday for the third year in a row.
