Two people have died after a detached garage caught fire in St. Paul Sunday. FOX 9's Leon Purvis has the story.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (FOX 9) - Authorities are investigating a garage fire in St. Paul after two dead bodies were found inside on Sunday afternoon.

What we know:
According to the St. Paul Fire Department, firefighters responded to a fire on the 1800 block of Sims Avenue just before 12:15 p.m. Crews found a detached garage fully engulfed in fire.
The fire was ultimately extinguished, and inside two bodies were found, authorities said. The two people were believed to be living in the garage at the time of the fire.
Officials believe the likely started after a space heater was accidentally knocked over. Heavy fire seemed to have blocked the garage door exit.
The residents of the home next to the garage have been temporarily relocated.

The St. Paul Fire Department says that improper heating is a leading cause of fatal fires in Minnesota during the winter.
This is the first and second fire death in St. Paul for 2025.
