St. Jude fundraiser aims to end childhood cancer
Thousands of people in Minneapolis started their Saturdays early to help raise money for St. Jude children's hospital in their quest to end childhood cancer.
This weekend, St. Jude hosted a walk/run fundraiser with a goal of $250,000. The funds will go toward hospital bills for families, and research.
The walk began at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The two-mile course ended right on the field, at the Vikings 50 yard line.
As of 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, the fundraiser had raised $232,338.00, just under the goal.
St. Jude prides itself on its work and research into childhood cancer. According to their website, the hospital has assisted in pushing the overall survival rate for childhood cancer from less than 20 percent to 80 percent today.
