Snow totals: Twin Cities sees over 4 inches, Eau Claire sets daily snowfall record

Snow blanketed the Twin Cities metro and much of central and southern Minnesota Tuesday, causing traffic headaches and early school dismissals. 

The metro saw over 4 inches of snow, while southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin saw even more.

  • St. Cloud: 2.7" 
  • MSP Airport: 4.1"
  • Chanhassen NWS: 4.1" 
  • Eau Claire: 7.7"

Eau Claire, Wisconsin received 7.7 inches of snow, setting a new daily snowfall record in the city for Feb. 5, according to the National Weather Service. 

The Twin Cities metro could see 3 to 6 more inches of snow before the week is over and western parts of the state could see up to 8 more inches. A second round of snow is expected to start sometime after the Wednesday evening commute and continue into Thursday morning.
