Sheriff: Man drowns after falling into water at Inver Grove Heights marina

A man died in an apparent drowning Wednesday night after he fell into the Mississippi River while disembarking a boat in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. 

At 10:33 p.m., the Dakota County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call of a person who had fallen into the water at Twin Cities Marina. First responders pulled the man from the water around 11:45 p.m. and began resuscitation efforts. 

Sheriff Tim Leslie said the man was transported to Regions Hospital where they continued resuscitation efforts, but he was eventually declared dead. 

The sheriff estimates the man was in the water for approximately 45 minutes to an hour. 

The incident remains under investigation.
