Saturday marks dangerous day on Minnesota roads

Two people are injured after a serious crash on Interstate 494 over the Minnesota River around 8 a.m. Saturday morning in what quickly became a busy day for law enforcement.

According to State Patrol there were 241 crashes and 68 spinouts in just 12 hours - from midnight to noon Saturday.

At I-494 and the Minnesota River, here was a minor crash, and one of the drivers exited their car to speak to the other driver on foot. The pedestrian was then struck by another car, and one person from that car was ejected. Two people were taken to HCMC with serious injuries.

The Bloomington Fire Department reports multiple injuries and prolonged extrication after the crash.

Then, shortly after noon Saturday, a car fire caused delays on I-494E at West Bush Lake Road in Bloomington. The fire was out by 1:30 p.m.
