(KMSP) - Ramsey County Commissioner Blake Huffman announced Wednesday that he is running for governor of Minnesota.
Huffman is one of the first GOP candidates to enter the race. He has served as Ramsey County Commissioner since 2012. Prior to that, he served on the Shoreview City Council for 16 years.
Huffman recently retired as a vice president with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.
There are already a number of DFLers vying to succeed Gov. Mark Dayton, who is not seeking a third term. Those candidates are St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, U.S. Rep. Tim Walz, State Auditor Rebecca Otto, State Rep. Erin Murphy and State Rep. Tina Liebling.
