Pontoon stuck in Wisconsin dam, boaters rescued
NEENAH, Wis. (KMSP) - Three boaters were rescued after their pontoon got stuck in a dam in Wisconsin Monday night.
The pontoon was stuck in the Neenah Dam near Neenah, Wis. Police say they were able to rescue the three boaters by using a safety cable. One man was able to pull himself out and the two others were able to swim to shore. They were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
According to Neenah officials and the Winnebago County Sheriff, the boaters were trying to retrieve a dinghy, but the current of the dam immobilized the pontoon’s motor.
The pontoon is still in the dam, but the sheriff says boat owners are currently making arrangements to have it removed.
