Police in Taylors Falls, Minnesota, are looking for information after a car was found submerged in the St. Croix River Friday afternoon.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m., police received a call about a car submerged in the river in the Interstate State Park area. It was barely visible and it is unknown if the car was occupied or how long it had been submerged.

The car, a red 1999 Ford Mustang GT with Minnesota plates, was removed from the river and found to be unoccupied.

According to police, initial signs indicate that "this was likely intentional," as the area where the vehicle went into the water is far away from roads or a parking lot and it is only accessible by a walking/hiking path.

The vehicle is registered out of Minneapolis. Police discovered that the vehicle was stolen; the owner didn't report it as stolen because he didn't know.
