A 76-year-old man from Columbia Heights, Minn. was followed home from a Target store Tuesday night by a dark-colored sedan. Police believe the suspect driving the sedan is the same man who followed the victim into his house, then shot and robbed him.

The victim had been shopping at the Target store at 53rd Avenue and Central Avenue in Fridley just before the shooting occurred, according to the Anoka County sheriff's office.

Surveillance video shows a dark-colored sedan, believed to be a late model Dodge Charger, pull up next to the victim’s vehicle after he entered the store. Footage from other surveillance videos in the area show the suspect vehicle following the victim’s vehicle out of the Target parking lot to an area near the victim’s home on the 5000 block of Johnson Street NE.

Police say the victim returned to from Target around 9 p.m. and entered his house through the attached garage. The suspect then entered the still-open garage door, walked into the house and immediately shot the man several without making any demands. The suspect proceeded to search the man's pockets, steal his wallet and run out of the house.

The suspect is described as a man in his early 20s. The victim did not recognize the suspect.

Anyone with information should call the Anoka County sheriff's office.
