One dead, teen in 'grave' condition after Plymouth crash

One person is dead after a multiple vehicle crash at Highway 55 and Northwest Boulevard in Plymouth, according to Plymouth police. The crash was reported at 2:46 p.m., with one person declared dead at the scene and four others taken to the hospital.

According to Plymouth police, the preliminary investigation indicates that four vehicles were involved in the crash. Vehicle 1 was travelling eastbound on Highway 55. Vehicle 2 was westbound on Highway 55, turning left to go south on Xenium Lane when the two vehicles collided. Following the initial crash, vehicle 2 settled between vehicles 3 and 4 which were stopped at the intersection. Vehicles 3 and 4 were travelling northbound on Xenium Lane/Northwest Boulevard.

An 86-year-old man from Golden Valley, who was a passenger in Vehicle 2, was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Roger Wold.

The driver and two additional passengers from Vehicle 2 were transported to North Memorial Hospital, including a 15-year-old girl from Plymouth who was said to be in “grave” condition. The driver from Vehicle 1 was also transported to North Memorial Hospital.

While the Plymouth teen remains hospitalized, the three other victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation by Hennepin County Crime Lab, Plymouth Police, and the state crash reconstruction team.
