Moorhead police looking for car in NDSU student murder investigation

The circumstances around the death of North Dakota State University student Thomas Bearson remain a mystery, but police in Moorhead, Minn. released a few details Monday that could generate more tips.

Background

The first-year student from Sartell, Minn. was last seen Sept. 20, leaving a party in Fargo, N.D. about 6 blocks from his dorm. His body was found outside of an RV dealership in Moorhead, and his death has been ruled a homicide.

Wanted: Car spotted on surveillance video

Police are looking for a 4-door car that was seen near Larry's RV Sales, where Bearson's body was found. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 701-451-7660 and request to speak with the on-duty supervisor.

Debunking rumors

Investigators made the following assertions regarding Bearson's death at a Monday afternoon news conference:

- He did not overdose on drugs

- He did not die of alcohol poisoning

- He was not a confidential informant for the police

- His body was not mutilated

Police said the "lengthy" autopsy provided investigators with new information, but said the information contained in that report will not be released at this time, as it could compromise the investigation.
